CvRL2: The Lady of Berkeley
A traditional, top-down, turn-based roguelike, with fixed overworld and procedurally generated dungeons. It's a retelling of the classic Castlevania 2 for the NES, in a format heavily inspired by ADoM.
Roam the countryside traveling between the towns, finding clues to complete your quest, and the mansions, where the relics of Dracula can be found.
Originally made for 7DRL 2024. This web playable version is a patched version conserving most of the original scope EXCEPT it includes graphics.
The original 7DRL submission can be played here, the last version before the graphics addition can be found here.
Backstory
1698: It has been seven years since Dracula was vanquished.
Simon visits his family's resting grounds; an illness affects his soul and body since his last encounter with Dracula. He suddenly feels someone's presence, and turns to see a young woman standing within the mist. She tells him that a curse was placed upon him by Dracula during their last battle, and that he does not have long to live. The curse can be undone if he resurrects Dracula himself.
Dracula's body was split into five different parts after his defeat seven years ago, and Simon must recover these and bring them to the ruins of Dracula's castle. There, he must invoke Dracula and defeat him for good.

Any plans to make this one downloadable like the previous was?
This is possible, actually don't know what stopped me from doing it. Maybe I just wanted to add ranged attacks so that it was more of a complete implementation of the initial vision.
Next version will be downloadable.
Awesome. You're the man. Genuinely love your roguelike versions of games.
Early gameplay here:
No drop command? What do I do with the whips littering my inventory?
That's a good point! I didn't manage to put it in just because of lack of time during the challenge. I'll keep it in mind for next update.
For now, try to have as few whips as possible :)
Really enjoyed this entry, Slashie! Great production value for an ASCII 7DRL :D. We only encountered one main issue during the stream (had to shut down Firefox completely to restart the audio properly after death), and otherwise just too bad there wasn't time to get a lot further, though figuring out navigation ended up wasting some time since I was wandering off into areas I clearly shouldn't have gone for right away. Second run pretty quickly found out how easy it is to actually make money, though by then didn't have enough time to get far before streaming time was up, and I wasn't paying attention against small fry and got myself killed anyway xD
If interested you can check out our runs here, from 01:25:52:
Thank you for the gameplay! I just pushed a version which fixes the audio loading issue and includes some improvements based on your run :)
Awesome work, and glad it was at least helpful in some way!
This was so good, I wish I had more time to finish it during the stream. Very well done!
Thank you for playing! was very useful to come up with some improvement ideas :)
I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this one. Will you have a downloadable version at some point?
thank you, yes! I need to create downloadables for this one as well as SpelunkyRL and Rainy Day
